When you think of a holiday, your mind probably jumps to relaxing on a beach, ice cream walks down a harbour, or splashing around in a pool. However, winter is one of the best places that you can choose to travel. With the cosy jumpers, pretty lights, and adventurous weather – you can have it all.
Here are the best places to visit during winter or spring.
You might be thinking – the country of sunshine, surely you should save this for the summer months? You could be wrong.
The weather is still ridiculously perfect, with the average temperature being 13°C (55°F), which beats the majority of places. Sometimes if you visit in January, you can still reach temperatures that touch the twenties (or mid-seventies).
You can dig into tea, go skiing (yes, really), go to the spa, and go hiking.
Don’t worry, Icelandic weather in the winter isn’t anything extreme. It’s only slightly colder than in other countries in Western Europe.
What Iceland will offer is a wonderful winter wonderland experience. Obviously, where else could you think for a classic winter trip? You’ll get the snow, the ice, and the amazing hiking trails.
One of the best things to do in Iceland in winter is to view the Northern lights. The prime time to witness these are when the nights are the longest, aka, during winter.
Budapest should be one of your top choices when picking your winter destination. One of the major attractions is definitely the Szachenyi Baths. However, there are so many more things to enjoy too. You can also go ice skating at Europe’s largest rink, grab some mulled wine at the Christmas markets, and wake the winter tram.
Budapest is a dreamy place to visit, especially in the winter months. The Christmas lights, the cosy hot chocolates, and the lovely atmosphere make this a place that you don’t want to miss.
Courchevel is a ski resort, located in the French Alps. It’s perfect all year round, but especially in the winter months. You might not get the sunbathing or the swimming pools – but winter does give you skiing. Courchevel is one of the best skiing places you could visit. The winter season here will provide you with cocktails, a family park, and food delivered to your door.
We hope you’ve been convinced about taking a winter trip. Europe has so much to offer, from warm to cold, adventurous to relaxing. Treat yourself this winter, and go on a magical trip.
