A destination in its own right, Wadi Rum has a landscape so surreal, it will make you feel as if you are in another world. Arriving at its pleasantly isolated location can be likened to having just landed on Mars but if you want to really get the most out of your time in Wadi Rum, you should be ready to spend the night there. Travel cliché yes, but it is something which you must do at least once in your life.
Bedouin culture is palpable in the desert and this is clearly evident in the welcoming vibe extended to everyone who sets foot there. If you want to have an unforgettable vacation, one thing you should definitely try is the bubble hotel of the Wadi Rum Luxury Night camp.
Located in the middle of the Wadi Rum Protected Area, this beautiful spot just a fifteen-minute ride from the Rum Village is where you can go glamping or camping in far more luxurious settings. Also called the “Full of Stars Hotel”, this domed and inflated structures are made from transparent plastic and they aim to bring guests as close to the outdoors as possible without, well, being outdoors.
There is only space for twenty-five reservations a night so Wadi Rum Night Camp is a little on the small side but that is what makes the experience even more unique. There are 20 UFOs and 5 bubbles for guests to choose from and each come with their own soft beds, Bedouin sofas, lamps, mirrors, high-end linens, private bathrooms, as well as a hot tub or jacuzzi outdoors.
Guests can fall asleep under the stars and sky and from the comfort of their beds. They can wake up to surreal panoramas in a temperature controlled bubble with their very own small patio and bathroom. The transparent ceilings and walls offer endless views of the Wadi Rum mountains and don’t fret if you are booked for the summer months, all tents are equipped with air-conditioning.
This boutique hotel feel is also accentuated with a superb buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, where guests can see and taste traditional Jordanian food such as stacks of piping hot shrak or flatbread made before their very own eyes, meat, rice, and vegetables.
The luxury camp can also arrange a myriad of thrilling adventures for the whole family amongst the desert sands. You can ride on a camel or up the ante with a 4×4 adventure or go sandboarding down the dunes. For those who would like a more nomadic and relaxing experience, guests can visit local Bedouin tribes and learn how they exist in this unforgiving terrain. If the weather is cooperative, the staff can also set up a desert picnic and organize a tour of the Wadi Rum where guests can see a French fortress and moving sand dunes.
