Toloache is contemporary Mexican bistro right in the heart of the Theater District. The restaurant was named after the flowering plant popular in Mexico for its use in love potions. The chef and owner, Julian Medina, hopes that diners will also be mesmerized and fall under the spell of his creative cooking when partaking of his sumptuous creations. His dishes use natural and seasonal ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies for that extra kick! Some of the dishes which should not be missed are the Carne Asada, Guacamole, and Tacos.

Hakkasan is a famous modern London Chinese restaurant with a branch at Times Square. French architect Gilles & Bossier designed the restaurant, and it reflects the iconic flagship restaurant in London. The Cantonese menu includes dishes inspired by local influences and flavors exclusively created for Big Apple. Some of the recipes which must be missed when in Hakkasan are the drool-worth dim sums, lettuce wraps and wide range of noodle and rice dishes. Patrons who would like meatless dishes can opt for the signature vegetarian menu.

Just a stone’s throw away from Broadway’s theaters, Shake Shack in the Theater District made its debut in July 2010. The floor to ceiling windows gives customers a front seat to all the color, action and vibrancy of Broadway. One of the best veggie burgers in town, Veggie Shack and their Shroom burgers, are one of their bestsellers. Made with black beans, brown rice, and roasted beets topped with provolone cheese, onions, tomato, lettuce, pickles, and vegan mustard mayo. There is also an option to have the burger entirely vegan by removing the cheese and using gluten-free bun or lettuce wrap.

Created by three close friends from Brawley, Tijuana, and Mexico, Los Tacos brings authentic Mexican taco to the east coast. The recipes used have been down from generation to generation but still retains the true flavor and culture of Mexico. People line up for their homemade tortillas and brace the stand-up dining just to get a taste of their flavorful fares. The cactus taco, a meatless alternative for vegetarians, is surprisingly tasty and is a sure winner.
