Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals He Uses ‘Plant-Based’ Sources Of Proteins

The 72-year-old world-famous bodybuilder and leading actor of the Terminator series – Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has also turned out to be a renowned politician, has revealed his drastic switch of diet from being a daily big-meat eater to only consuming plant-based food.

A documentary called The Game Changers was released on 18th September which starred many famous athletes and sportsmen like Lewis Hamilton and Novak Djokovic. It was directed by the Oscar-winner Louie Psihoyos. This documentary debunks many myths about plant-based diet while highlighting the benefits of veganism.

In an interview, the 38th-former Californian Governor said “I ate a lot of meat – I ate my 10, 15 eggs a day. I had my 250 grams of protein in a day because I weighed 250 pounds.”

“As I got older and I started research up on it, I recognized the fact that you really don’t have to get your protein from meat. So I started going more in a direction of the vegetarian kind of diet.”

“Now I am doing it the right way, with spices, and all of a sudden I love it much more than the meat.”

He has also revealed on his Instagram that the drive for meat consumption is only because of all the fancy-appetizing commercials you see on TV. He said they are simply “selling the idea that a real man eats meat.”

When this muscle-giant was asked about his favourite meal preferences,in an interview to Men’s Health,  he elaborated about his undying love for vegetarianism by saying he has included more oatmeal, fruits, vegetables and other delicious greens to keep the tummy, taste buds and protein requirement happily fulfilled at all times. 

In the same interview, he also shared his secret protein smoothie which has almond milk and a touch of tart cherry juice with unripened bananas. For a lovely cooling effect, he also adds sliced watermelons to it during the summer season.

He also explained how all of this has helped him to achieve the lowest cholesterol level of his life and has made him fitter without effecting his workout routine.

Just like many other body-builders, he also believed in meat being the only and primary source of proteins but only now he has realized how he and everyone else was wrong all this time.

He has paved a new blooming, healthy eating-lifestyle for himself and encourages others to do so as well!
