Established in 1966, the Robert Mondavi Vinery was created with the vision of being the world’s best. Located in To Kalon Vineyard, in the heart of Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi is celebrated for producing some of the most excellent Cabernet Sauvignon wines, as well as Sauvignon blanc grapes, from which the signature wine, Fume Blanc, is crafted. Robert Mondavi believes that combining time-honored winemaking traditions with the newest techniques and technology produces the best wines. This goal of excellence is carried on with the same passion today.

If you are a wine connoisseur or just a plain wine geek, you will love the informative tours that follow the path of the grape from the vineyard all the way to the wine glass. Guests will see the vineyards, the winemaking cellars, and the barrel aging room, as well as participate in a seated educational tasting of three different wines with one of their wine specialists.

Donn Chappallet first laid eyes on the spectacular vistas of Pritchard Hill in the 1960s, and that was when Chappallet’s romance with wines began. Donn followed the advice of the legendary winemaker Andre Tcheistcheff and settled his family on the rocky eastern slopes of the Napa Valley. Since its establishment in 1967, Chappallet has established Pritchard Hill as one of the state’s most revered winegrowing sites. Today it is acclaimed as one of the most significant places for Cabernet Sauvignon. A visit to the vineyard offers sweeping views of the forests, meadows, vineyards, Lake Hennessey, and the valley floor below.

Created by Valeria and Agustin in the 1990s, Quintessa Vineyards possess swooping stone-faced winery set into five hillsides, and since 2005, the farming has been biodynamic. The varied soil types have allowed winemaker Rebekah Wineburg to produce a Bordeaux-style blend of finesses and complexity, plus a sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc. This Cabernet producer created three 250-square-foot private tasting rooms made of wood and glass set in prime vineyard viewing spots on the ridgeline of Dragon’s Hill. Although these spaces seem like the perfect spot for yoga at dawn, they work just as well with wine. Guests can sample barrels form some of the 25 vineyard blocks, a current vintage, and a rare library wine.
