One of the best things in life is sharing a meal with family and loved ones during the holiday season, and one of the most significant holidays today is Thanksgiving. It is indeed such a heartwarming experience to take a bite out of your aunt’s Pumpkin pie and to eat Thanksgiving turkey, but what about vegetarians and vegans? It can be pretty isolating for them to sit down at the dinner table and to find that there is simply nothing for them to enjoy.

Vegan and vegetarians, who choose to eschew meat and their byproducts deserve just as much love and attention during this momentous occasion. They also deserve to sit down at the dinner table, catch up with family and friends and fill their tummies with delightful goodies. Gone are the days when people are hard-pressed to find viable options amidst traditional Thanksgiving fare. Currently, there are numerous choices available that will please even those who avoid meat. Such a family affair, after all, must be inclusive of all diets.

Turkey is the centerpiece of any table during Thanksgiving. Without it, the special time just isn’t complete. So, to turkey or not? Let’s put our foot down and make a homemade alternative instead. This is a fun and healthy option for your meatless table. This stuffed tofu turkey or tofurky breast will impress any guest. Tofu is blended until smooth and seasoned with herbs. It can be stuffed with your choice of vegan stuffing, formed into a log shape, and baked until golden brown. Your guests won’t be able to tell the difference once they taste it.

The vegetarian lentil loaf is a classic favorite made with rice and lentils, and the best thing about it is that it doesn’t taste like sawdust! Made with inexpensive ingredients, it is a great way to stretch your dollars and to please vegetarian friends and loved ones. Smother it with the vegetarian gravy and serve with your potato dish and you have yourself a winner.

What is Thanksgiving without dessert? Vegan pumpkin pie is so good that even those who are non-vegans will be asking you for the recipe before the night is over. What is the secret to the flaky crust? Coconut oil! Silken tofu mixed with pumpkin puree and spices make for a creamy filling.
