One of the world’s most recognizable names when it comes to beauty products, The BODY Shop, has sold more than 3 million vegan beauty products in the United States alone. The trend toward plant-based products has seen a spike in the consumption of vegan skincare. As a matter of fact, it has the largest market share in the past year, taking in about 36% of sales.
An astounding percentage of people in North America alone is clamoring for more vegan cosmetics, which is a far cry from people who used to swear by standard beauty products. Google search for the words “vegan beauty” almost doubled in the US between December 2016 and December 2017. The overall demand has continued to grow in 2018 and does not show any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
This is a testament to the fact that the consumers are now more conscious about the products they use. People want to know what they are made of, where they are from, and what effects they have on the environment. In the year 2016, 17% of the new cosmetic releases in the US were vegan, and this made the US, the second highest country to introduce vegan products worldwide. Experts have predicted that the global vegan cosmetics market will reach $20.8 billion by 2025.
